GDB Solution
Spring 2023
Q: What is bullying? Being a teacher, what strategies you
will use to control bullying among school children? Write at least 5
strategies.
Solution:
Bullying:
Bullying is a repeated aggressive
behavior where one person (or group of people) in a position of power
deliberately intimidates, abuses, or coerces an individual with the intention
to hurt that person physically or emotionally. Acts of bullying can be physical
or verbal.
As a teacher, strategies I will
used to control bullying among school children are:
1.
Create a
classroom culture that values respect, kindness, and empathy. Foster a sense of
belonging for all students, making it less likely for bullying to occur.
2.
Conduct
age-appropriate lessons or discussions on bullying to help students understand
its impact and consequences. Teach them about empathy, conflict resolution, and
appropriate communication skills.
3.
Establish
peer support initiatives, such as buddy systems or mentoring programs, to encourage
positive relationships between older and younger students. This can foster a
sense of responsibility and discourage bullying behavior.
4.
If
witness or receive reports of bullying, intervene promptly and assertively.
Address the situation calmly, separating the involved parties, and collect
necessary information for appropriate follow-up actions.
5.
Work with
school administrators to establish and enforce clear anti-bullying policies.
Ensure that appropriate consequences are in place for individuals engaged in
bullying behavior, emphasizing education and rehabilitation whenever possible.
